Returns Policy

Your rights to return fabric / items depend on the reason of return, and also whether you are a consumer or not. These rights are summarised in the table below.

Please be aware of our Terms and Conditions relating to the customer having no rights to return goods once they have been cut or further processed.

Any goods made to the customer's specifications cannot be returned to us for reasons such as the customer not liking the items or the incorrect fabric / colour being ordered.

We always advise our customers to do wash tests on small test samples before use for manufacturing goods with eg. mixed colours. However, fabric returned to us by consumers after washing, which is not deemed to be faulty, will only receive a very small percentage refund as we will not be able to sell the fabric to another customer except at a very low price.

Fabric / items which are personalised or bespoke cannot be returned for reasons such as the customer not liking them - see note [1] below.


[1] Personalised or bespoke normally means (for the fabrics/items we sell) striped / tipped, printed, embroidered or otherwise made to your specifications. Fabrics / collars /cuffs made specially to your size or fibre specifications would be considered to be bespoke.
[2] A consumer is: 'an individual acting for purposes that are wholly or mainly outside that individual's trade, business, craft or profession'.
[3] If you want to return an item because you do not like it, you have ordered the colour incorrectly or other similar reasons the answer to this question is "No". These have to be treated separately as they are dealt with by a different English law.
[4] We can deduct money from the refund for any wear and tear (except reasonable breaking open of packaging etc). In general this means (for most customers) that you inspect the fabric, but you cannot wash it (apart from a small test sample). You cannot cut or further process the fabric.

You need to contact us before you return any fabrics/items to us. You may use our returns form for this, or you can write to us or send us an email using the details on our contact page.

This returns policy is intended to be a summary of your rights in English Law, together with our own terms and conditions. If there is any conflict between this page, English laws or our own terms and conditions the order of precedence is English law, our terms and conditions, then our returns policy.

Appendix A - Consumer Right to Cancel for Items not Personalised Nor Bespoke

This right to cancel is only applicable for orders where:

  1. The sale was to a consumer (ie it was not a sale to a business or similar organisation - see definition in note [2] above), and
  2. The goods are neither made to the consumer’s specifications nor clearly personalised.

Please be aware that any orders (or part orders) either made to the consumer’s specifications or that are clearly personalised will have no right of cancellation.

The rest of Appendix A only applies for orders where this right to cancel exists.

You have the right to cancel this contract within 14 days without giving any reason. The cancellation period will expire after 14 days from the day which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the goods.

To exercise the right to cancel, you must inform us (Address: Josery Textiles Ltd, Unit 2, Benneworth Close, Hucknall, NOTTM, NG15 6EL; Phone: 0115 963 2209; Email: of your decision to cancel this contract by a clear statement (e.g. a letter sent by post, fax or e-mail). You may use our returns form, but it is not obligatory.

To meet the cancellation deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right to cancel before the cancellation period has expired.

Effects of Cancellation

If you cancel this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you (except as detailed in this appendix), including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).

We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you. Please note: if the goods are not returned in an “as new” state (eg if they have been worn, apart from trying on, and/or washed), it is likely that we will only be able to reimburse a very small proportion of the money for the supplied goods, and we may not be able to reimburse any money for the goods.

We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than:

  1. 14 days after the day we receive back from you any goods supplied, or
  2. (if earlier) 14 days after the day you provide evidence that you have returned the goods

We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise. In any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of the reimbursement. We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.

You shall send back the goods without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your cancellation from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods.

You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.

Appendix B - Consumer Rights for Faulty Items, or Items Incorrectly Described or Sent

This appendix is only applicable for customers who are consumers (see note[2] above) and where the goods are not: 'of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described'.

If you contact us within a month:

If we accept your claim is valid you can claim a full refund. We will also pay for the cost of returning the item to us (please contact us before you send it, so we can sort out the method of returning).

If you contact us after 1 month but within 6 months

If we accept your claim is valid you are entitled to a repair/replacement (or a refund if we can't do this). We will also pay for the cost of returning the item to us (please contact us before you send it, so we can sort out the method of returning). Your claim is invalid if we can prove the fault wasn't there when you bought the item.

If you contact us after 6 months has passed:

If you purchased the item/fabric from us over 6 months ago you have to prove that the fault was present when you bought it before we will accept the claim is valid. If you can prove this then we will refund/repair/replace the item and pay for the cost of returning the item to us (please contact us before you send it, so we can sort out the method of returning).
